How to Apply
We will be accepting LIMITED applications for students in grades K through 11th who live in Wayne County for in-person learning. Unlimited applications for Riverview Virtual Academy will be accepted in grades K-12 for 100% online learning.
Applications must be submitted between April 15 and May 14.
- Online application for each individual student must be received during the application window.
- Click here to complete the online application (will not be available until 7:00 am on Monday, 4/15).
- We will contact your student's previous school, if applicable, for prior discipline records.
- You will be notified of acceptance, denial, or waitlist status no later than Friday, 5/24/24
FAQ
- When will I know if my student is accepted?
- Notification of acceptance, denial, or waitlisted will be sent via email no later than 5/24/24.
- I already have a student enrolled in Riverview. Will my other students automatically be accepted?
- No. We can give preference to siblings of current Riverview students. There must be availability in the grade for the sibling and there must be no suspensions or expulsions.
- Do I need to apply again if I already have a student enrolled?
- No. Current Schools of Choices students do not need to re-apply. Once a student is enrolled, they are considered to be a Riverview student until graduation or there is a break in enrollment.
- How are Schools of Choice students selected?
- If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of open seats per grade level, a random lottery will be utilized to select the students. Remaining applicants will be placed on a waitlist. Schools of Choice selection is not first-come-first-serve.
- My student was put on the waitlist. What does that mean?
- If a spot becomes available before the end of the first week of the school year, you will be offered that spot.
- Will there be transportation for my student?
- No. Parents/guardians are expected to provide transportation. It is also expected that students will be dropped off and picked up on time.
Accepted Students
After you receive your acceptance email,
- Complete the online pre-enrollment form before 5/29/24.
- After the District approves the pre-enrollment, you will receive an email with instructions to create a PowerSchool Parent Account. This email is usually delivered to your junk folder. Search for a message from powerschool@riverviewschools.com.
- Once you receive the information to create your PowerSchool account, you will have until 6/5/24 to complete the enrollment forms.
- If the forms are not complete by 6/5/23, your student's spot will be offered to the next student on our waitlist.
